Riksdag decision: To create safer residential areas throughout the country, the government has proposed that property owners should have increased opportunities to terminate tenancy of tenants who commit crimes. The responsibility the tenant has for children and other persons living in or staying in the apartment shall also apply to ensuring that these persons do not commit crimes that create insecurity for other residents. Furthermore, the tenant's obligation to maintain security within the property is clarified and strengthened. To counteract abuse of the rules on boarders, the tenant's right to accommodate outside persons in the apartment shall be tightened. The landlord shall also have better opportunities to monitor how an apartment is used. The proposals also provide improved conditions for a tenant who has been subjected to violence by a close associate to retain the apartment in case of termination.
