Measures for economic needs

The plan requires universal welfare with a high minimum level and that children, the sick and the unemployed should have the same right to good lives as the working. The counter-proposal's requirements for national statistics, an independent right to assistance for children and a review of the national standard aim at exactly that: that the lower protection level actually holds and that child poverty is made visible. The plan particularly points out that many children grow up in poverty.

The plan demands a society where children do not grow up in poverty and a social safety net throughout life. National statistics on applications and rejections, an independent right to assistance for children and a review of the calculation of the national standard are means to ensure that the safety net reaches and can be followed up. The party programme requires that basic security be so comprehensive that no one falls through the safety nets and that children's rights carry the most weight. The plan's line for economic assistance is a benefit cap and a daily allowance with a clear requirement for work in return, where maintenance support shall lead back to self-support. The plan's line for maintenance support is opposite to the counter-proposal's: work obligation shall become a condition for those maintained through municipal maintenance support and it shall become harder to exploit Swedish welfare.
