The party programme establishes that new products and growth areas have often emerged through collaboration between the public sector and companies and requires more active state industrial policy, as well as that research needs to expand in scope. The election manifesto wants the state to help companies with a massive green investment programme and investments in new technology. Strengthened innovation funding, resumed collaboration programmes and a joint innovation strategy are therefore in line with the plan's direction.

The party programme gives the state an explicit task to promote entrepreneurship through a good climate for innovation and product and market development, and wants Sweden to be among the leading in research investment. The plan's innovation policy goes through lower taxes on business, stronger incentives for investment and research kept free from political interference.
