The plan requires a comprehensive and long-term investment plan that includes, among other things, an expansion of the railway, and that heavy transports be directed to the railway. It also wants aviation to bear its socioeconomic costs, which presupposes that train capacity is expanded. The counter-proposal's requirement that work on new main lines be resumed aligns with this, even if the plan does not mention the main lines by name.

The party programme explicitly requires expanded capacity in the railway network through, among other things, new main lines, and the election manifesto promises massive investments in both new and existing railways. The counter-proposal's requirement that work on new main lines be resumed is thus exactly what the plan commits to. The plan also links railways to the goal that climate-smart travel shall be the cheaper alternative and to a railway that can be relied upon.

The election manifesto explicitly promises to accelerate the construction of new trunk lines for high-speed rail, in parallel with upgrading the existing rail network. The party programme states that the train shall be faster than the car and cheaper than flying. The counter-proposal's demand to resume work on new trunk lines, including to replace air travel, thereby coincides with the plan's commitment. The demand is supported.

The plan explicitly stands against new high-speed rail lines and instead wants to upgrade the existing railway.
