Arlanda, Bromma and Skavsta airports

The election manifesto promises continued construction of rental housing that ordinary people can afford and that overcrowding shall be combated, while travel shall be restructured towards rail and public transport. The plan therefore supports the counter-proposal's requirement.

The plan establishes that people's freedom and prosperity are promoted by good communications and that mobility shall be facilitated, both in cities and in the countryside. It wants to solve the housing shortage through simplified rules and shorter appeals, not by closing existing airport capacity. Moving all Stockholm traffic from Bromma therefore has no support in the plan, which does not address the issue.

The plan states that a well-functioning domestic air service is necessary in a country with long distances and places responsibility on the state to maintain a system of national and regional airports. The plan has an explicit goal to develop Arlanda so that the airport becomes the leading one in the Nordic region, which is precisely the competitiveness question the counter-proposal raises. The plan also wants to build away the housing shortage in the 207 municipalities where it exists, and the land freed up at Bromma responds to that.
