The party programme makes a radical expansion of renewable electricity production decisive for climate transformation, crisis preparedness and economic development, and the election manifesto requires the state to intervene with initiatives on renewable energy and increase its control over the infrastructure the transformation requires. That work on connecting large offshore wind power parks to the national grid is resumed is a direct implementation of this. The plan also sees the electricity grid as public infrastructure where investments are guided by socio-economic goals.

The election manifesto explicitly points out that offshore wind power can contribute much energy and that electricity production needs to be expanded quickly, not least in southern Sweden where the power balance is weakest. The counter-proposal's demand that work to connect sea-based wind power parks to the backbone network is resumed is this commitment implemented in action. The plan also promises to at least double the pace of power grid expansion and to speed up permit processes.

The plan commits to rapidly expanding offshore wind power throughout the country and expanding the electricity network, which requires that the connection of major offshore wind farms to the main grid is actually implemented. Resuming the interrupted connection work is therefore exactly what the plan requires, especially in southern Sweden where the balance of power is weakest. The election manifesto requires doubled emission-free electricity production, at least 50 TWh during the term of office and that the electricity grid be strengthened and expanded, with permit times for wind power of maximum two years. To resume the connection of large offshore wind power plants to the main grid, especially in southern Sweden where the power balance is weakest, is a direct application of these commitments.

The plan explicitly prioritizes electricity production that works independently of weather and wind and makes new nuclear power the answer to power balance, especially in southern Sweden. Any commitment to connect large offshore wind farms to the main grid is not present. The plan certainly wants to invest in the electricity network and let all fossil-free power sources contribute, which pulls in the opposite direction, but the deciding commitment speaks against the counter-proposal's requirement.
