Support for Global Health Security

The plan establishes that Sweden should increase aid and strengthen the UN, and that strong sexual and reproductive rights are decisive for people's power over their own lives. The counter-proposal's demand for resumed core support to UN bodies and targeted support against gender-based violence and female genital mutilation follows directly from that. The election manifesto binds the party to a strengthened feminist foreign and development policy and to aid at over one per cent of GNI that is not conditioned by domestic political interests. Resuming support to central UN bodies and directing funds toward gender-based violence, female genital mutilation, vaccinations and clean water is a direct application of this, as is the programme's requirement that life-saving medicines reach those who need them globally. The party programme states that sexualised and honour-related violence must never be accepted, whether it occurs in Sweden or in other countries, and wants to see a society free from violence and exploitation.
